Ciseog
The Skib Ciseog reimagines one of Ireland’s most traditional basket forms through a more contemporary and decorative lens. Traditionally, the skib was used in Irish homes for straining boiled potatoes fresh from the pot before being placed at the centre of the table for sharing and eating together. Simple, practical and deeply woven into everyday Irish life, the skib became a familiar presence around the hearth and kitchen table.
Handwoven in Connemara using richly coloured willow varieties grown on my land, each piece celebrates the natural movement, texture and contrast found within the weave. Deep earthy browns, warm honey tones and darker willow accents create a sculptural quality that feels both timeless and refined.
While rooted in traditional Irish basketmaking, the Skib Ciseog is designed as a statement piece for the modern home — bringing warmth, texture and character to interior spaces. Its open circular form and layered weave lend themselves beautifully to wall display, allowing the natural colours and rhythm of the willow to become a focal point within a room.
Each basket is entirely unique, shaped slowly by hand and influenced by the materials themselves, making every piece one of a kind.
